Happy, happy, happy

I should be crying tears of joy right now for passing my Finance finals and completing the requirements that took a loooong time to finally get into the right containers. I just can't believe I'm almost there, almost at that makeshift pedestal where all the eager young (and not so young) hopefuls pass on the way to the real world - the harsh, selfish world.

I should be smiling up to my ears for finally, finally finishing most of my obligations (I still have that freaking scrapbook to make for
the Weekly Sillimanian
and an inventory to do for the university property custodian) and almost bringing home the sweet evidence of my more that 5 year-struggle in this bittersweet campus by the sea.

I should be grinning...But I'm just too happy and no amount of showing it could explain the joy I'm feeling.

Funny how these last-minute encounters changed my perspective: the tear-strained encounter with Atty. Futalan after our [lousy] Feasibility defense and the Manila field trip which actually gave me a chance to bond with my CBA classmates (see how I've matured!) and found out they're not so bad after all, the late night feasibility meetings that usually ended up undone, and the semi-overtime sessions at DTI-NPO just to finish my 120 practicum hours required for me to march.

I've finally become a CBA student, not because I actually hang out with CBA people aside from Donna and Jan7 now but because I actually feel like one. I've learned to respect my teachers especially Atty. Futalan for believing in me, and although I haven't been hanging around CBA that much, I know I'm going to miss the 36-million building of state-of-the-art facilities and fiber glass windows (Campus Amba talking...hehe). I'll never forget that one fateful feasibility project that had me staying awake for almost 24 hours and crying my eyes out for weeks.

I've finally made friends that, although for a brief moment, have become part of what I'll always look back on and treasure. After a few detours and distractions, I'm FINALLY graduating! I could be shouting at the top of my lungs or skip happily around Silliman, my home and my life for 6 years. I'm finally finally going up that stage and receiving my diploma and I could only thank God for everything I've gone through.

Happy or not, all the memories were made just right.

I thought it was a futile attempt at patching up all the years ripped apart by indifference. But then again it felt reassuring that the quilt of love we once created hasn't torn to pieces after all.

Heart shape

heart

The heart only reveals its true intentions after the one for whom it beats has gone and already moved on. It is like a child that unceasingly astounds with simple reasons and untainted judgment yet nevertheless rouses the most extreme of emotions, even those that are thought to be chained beneath the dark alleys of the soul.

It reminds of Mother, armed with support and, at the very least, acceptance. It never tires of pumping breath into life, and never regrets what it sacrificed. It admits without question and doesn’t refuse what it gets in return. It never complains, never criticizes, yet like the selfless being that it is, one day breaks down in tears, and despairingly give up.

It is like the teacher who could’ve walked on a fancier career path but had chosen to stay, if only to prove that the best lessons in life need not be magnificent.

It surprisingly resembles Father, the self-appointed guardian, the one who chastises with iron fist and speaks in harsh riddles; whose warnings come in bundles at embarrassing hours, at unexpected moments. Yet, as always, the austerity that truly masks concern imparts wisdom that comes just in time to rescue.

The heart with its many faces is both deceitful and honest. It only hollers “Help!” when it’s breaking, only talks when it’s hurting. It never grumbles ‘til its suffering, and never confesses ‘til it’s too late.

Muriel's Diary

On nights when we're not laughing over Seinfeld, Tad and I would visit his grandparents living just outside the city limit.

That night wasn't any different. My heart did triple back flips when his grandmother mercilessly teased us all throughout dinner, I failed to brush the color off my cheeks when his grandfather kept dropping hints of how lovely we look together, and Tad, being the unexpected clown that he was, just rumpled my scrupulous hairdo and smilingly said, "Ria?! She's the best twin sister I never had."

Like I said, that night wasn't any different, except that I was even more in love with him than ever.

It was a few hours after dinner and I'd finally decided to bare it all. I was just going to tell him the only one thing he didn't know about me but it felt like I was making a brutal confession. We were at the balcony, looking at a neighboring ranch shrouded in darkness. It wasn’t a view many painters would die for, but the half-hidden moon scarcely casting its eerie light on misty hillocks was enough to give the night its allure.

Something felt wrong.

The first splinters of rain fell like pixies dancing on raven’s wings. It was an ordinary rainy night, but it was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. "I have to tell you something," I said, barely taming my pounding chest. I heard Tad chuckle, he said he had something to confess too. I turned to look into his eyes and saw love locked in confused silence. Amid the sound of raindrops kissing the earth he told me he loved me. I would remember that night forever, even if the stars we wished to gaze at failed to come out, even if the rain somehow managed to trickle into my cheeks when hugged me goodbye.

So she said what's the problem baby
What's the problem I don't know
Well maybe I'm in love (love)
Think about it every time
I think about it
Can't stop thinking 'bout it
How much longer will it take to cure this
Just to cure it cause I can't ignore it if it's love (love)
Makes me wanna turn around and face me
but I don't know nothing 'bout love
Come on, come on
Turn a little faster
Come on, come on
The world will follow after
Come on, come on
Cause everybody's after love
So I said I'm a snowball running
Running down into the spring that's coming all this love
Melting under blue skies
Belting out sunlight
Shimmering love
Well baby I surrender
To the strawberry ice cream
Never ever end of all this love
Well I didn't mean to do it
But there's no escaping your love
These lines of lightning
Mean we're never alone,
Never alone, no, no
Come on, Come on
Move a little closer
Come on, Come on
I want to hear you whisper
Come on, Come on
Settle down inside my love
Come on, come on
Jump a little higher
Come on, come on
If you feel a little lighter
Come on, come on
We were once
Upon a time in love
We're accidentally in love
Accidentally in love [x7]
Accidentally I'm In Love,
I'm in Love [5x]
Accidentally [x2]
Come on, come on
Spin a little tighter
Come on, come on
And the world's a little brighter
Come on, come on
Just get yourself inside her Love ...
I'm in love
